Boat Rental Crikvenica — Complete Nautical Guide 2026

Crikvenica, a well-known Kvarner spa destination with a long tourism tradition, sits in an almost ideal position halfway between the islands of Krk and Rab. Few departure points on the northern Adriatic offer such an easy choice between two popular islands within the same stay.

Halfway between Krk and Rab

From Crikvenica, Krk island is reachable in about 30-40 minutes of sailing, while Rab is about an hour away — both destinations are realistically visitable during the same stay without needing to change base. This balance is rarely highlighted compared to neighboring towns like Novi Vinodolski or Selce.

Selce and Dramalj — neighboring coves

Right next to Crikvenica, the villages of Selce and Dramalj offer calmer pebble beaches and fewer crowds than the town waterfront itself in summer. A short boat ride lets you try a different cove every day without driving along the busy coastal road.

The Vinodol valley from the sea

Crikvenica's hinterland, the Vinodol valley known for its vineyards and the medieval Vinodol Code, is visible from the sea as a green belt behind the coastal towns. While the valley itself isn't reachable by boat, the view of it from the water adds context to this part of Kvarner's history.

When to rent a boat in Crikvenica

The season runs from May to October, peaking in July and August when both the town and island excursions are busiest. June and September offer warm seas and significantly easier access to both Krk and Rab.
